Welcome to Boxwood Cottage!

So glad that you found me! My blog is about everything I love like gardening, decorating my home & garden and crafting. Although I'm from Germany I write my blog in English so that hopefully every visitor can read it. Hope you'll stay a while and will leave me a comment so that I know that you were here! xoxo Carola

Dedicated to a friend

I dedicate these two pages of my altered book to my dear friend Gerlinde, who has drawn the cards for me!

If you click on the picture you can see a bigger version.

Carol - I'm intrigued by your 'altered book' but I don't really know what it is. Is it a book with plain pages which decorate with other pictures, photos, decorative trimming, etc. or is it a book that already has everything in it but you change it in some way?

Yes Alice it is the second. It is an old book that I didnt need anymore and that I alter/change into something new, a piece of art.

This was the explanation I found on the net:

It is any book, old or new that has been recycled by creative means into a work of art. They can be ... rebound, painted, cut, burned, folded, added to, collaged in, gold-leafed, rubber stamped, drilled or otherwise adorned ...

And if you type Altered Books in Google you will get tons of information about it, for example here:

that is amazing. does your friend sell her work any where? I would love to buy some of it. Little gift tags would be nice.

as to the altered book - you should think of some kind of swap that we could do next year. or a challenge. like altered page of the month...

Hi Robyn,

I'll ask her when I see her next time, she lives a few hours away from here. She is the friend that we are going to visit in two weeks time.

Okay I'll think about :D
